At Oh So Social, we love using our technical social media know-how to achieve fantastic results for our clients, which is exactly what we did when we were approached by the late, great Cornish comedian Jethro’s son to help sell his iconic number plates.
Lanyon Rowe, son of the late Geoffrey Rowe (better known as Jethro), asked us to help sell his father’s personalised number plates, the famous J35 TER and B11 ECS, which were heading to auction alongside other items from Jethro’s estate.
Our main goal was to build awareness with as many potential bidders from across the UK as possible on the lead up to the auction.
With a minimal budget and plenty of technical targeting, we used Paid Social advertising on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) to achieve this goal, with the result at auction exceeding expectations.
The J35 TER plate sold for £30,500, which was a significant 5,545% Return on Ad Spend (ROAS), with the B11 ECS plate selling for £1,400, which was a ROAS of 3,500%. Other items in the auction also saw great results.
Director Katherine George said: It was great to work with Lanyon to help sell such iconic items owned by his late father and Cornish legend, Jethro. We’re delighted with how well the auction went, attracting bidders from across the UK, and pleased to contribute to a fantastic result for Lanyon and his family.”
